The partnership of Lead Philippines (www.leadphil.blogspot.com) and Di Duwag ang Pilipino (diduwagangpilipino.com) is now poised to broadcast their first radio program entitled: (Ang) Liga ng Katotohanan.
The program will be a news commentary program, highlighting pressing issues and problems affecting the country today, and the search for solutions related to the same. While doing so, the program hopes to encounter potential leaders with the best ideas and capabilities to help lift the country in the future.
About a year from the National Elections of 2010, the program also hopes to reach individuals and organizations currently pursuing various initiatives, and act as a converging point for all of them. As such, Lead Philippines welcomes suggestions, and can make use of announcements and other information from all these concerned individuals, movements and organizations.
The program will be aired starting May 17, 2009 (still subject to change), Sunday, from 6 to 7PM at DZXL (a station of the Radio Mindanao Network) 558KHz on the AM band.

WANTED: Volunteers (for a Radio Program)
Everyday, we complain about graft and corruption in our country. We know people die because government resources do not reach them but instead fill the pockets of many of those in power. Little children are left begging in the streets while many of our politicians are quarrelling over what is left of the country. What then does our future hold?
We know change we must, and 2010 presents an opportunity. However, with a little over a year from elections, we still do not know who or where our real leaders are. We do not even have a glimpse of what the real issues are. With more than 90 Million Filipinos, why can’t we find even a few among us who can lead the country to the clamored change?
Now, Lead Philippines (www.leadphil.blogspot.com) has teamed up with Di Duwag ang Pilipino (www.diduwagangpilipino.com) to produce a weekly radio program that will:

Survey Says
Recently, Lead Philippines sent out a small survey which asks: What is the country’s biggest problem?
In a short time, there were about 40 responses by email and text…
Majority of the responses were (more than 50%), mostly in big bold letters, GRAFT AND CORRUPTION.
The next leading response is POVERTY (10%). However, it could be argued that Poverty is the biggest problem, for among those whom I reach on this survey, many feel that poverty is the result of all the other problems (especially the result of Graft and corruption). More than 60% of the respondents said so.
There are a lot of other answers too. A number of people answered somewhat similarly though when they say Bad Attitude, Moral Bankruptcy (both of the people and the leaders), Moral Decay, Apathy, Political Immaturity, Cultural Shortsightedness, etc. and/or even Godlessness as our biggest problem. It seems to me that these responses are pointing directly at the people themselves as part of the problem… If we group these answers together, then we have about 18% of the answers.
Meanwhile, a number of people also directly pointed at our leaders by saying Lack of Moral Leadership, The Filipino Leader (even suggesting we can just import leaders), and Bad politics. Two people directly said that Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is our biggest problem! If leadership problems are grouped together, it would account for about 12% of the responses.
To think that the leaders and its people could be tied together (we elect our leaders and we are being led by them), then that response account for about 30% of the answers.
One e-mailed uniquely, by saying that Delays in our Justice System is the biggest problem the country has. Another texted that our Laws are Flawed, protecting the politicians rather than the helpless.
So, if we would like to draw some conclusions from this small survey, perhaps we can say that most of us thought that GRAFT AND CORRUPTION is the biggest problem of the country. Next problems are the people themselves (apathy, moral decay, etc), and then our leaders (bad politics, GMA, etc.). Next problem is the system (our laws and our Justice system). But in the end, many thought that all problems lead to POVERTY.
The next question therefore is how to solve these problems. This should be the subject of our next surveys.

Manifesto
2020 Vision:
Lead Philippines envisions a country with a good number of capable national leaders of high integrity and patriotism, joining the political fray, and who instill hope, confidence and pride among the Filipino people in their own country by 2020.
Mission:
Lead Philippines is a movement of Filipinos that seeks to help the country find new leaders. The search for fresh leadership will be through a series of tasks aimed at:
1. Rousing people to do something, with whatever one can do or how little it may seem, and
2. In the process also rousing people with capability, integrity and patriotism to present themselves to the people and lead the country out of its problems, and
3. Providing these potential leaders with a venue in mass media where they can be heard, tested and, for those who are proven most worthy, be made popular, thereby,
4. Bringing hope, pride and confidence for the Filipino people.
Values:
Lead Philippines shall follow the same values it seeks from potential leaders. These values, which are expounded by another group called TETP* and which Lead Philippines support, are summarized as follows:
Patriotism
Love for country, next to God
Love for fellowmen, with special concern for those in abject poverty
Offering of service not for own benefit but for the benefit of others
Integrity
Passion to search for, to understand, and to spread the truth
Fairness even when others are not fair
Avoidance of conflict of interests, declaring when such exist in itself
Excellence
Adequately prepare for important tasks
Exemplify timeliness in its activities
Seek out and honor excellence from other people
Specific Projects:
The flagship project which Lead Philippines plans to implement is to:
1. Produce a radio program that will feature truth, to provide real leaders (who are not afraid of the truth) with a venue where they can share their dreams and aspirations for the country.
Lead Philippines believe that the above project alone can have a tremendous impact in the search for new leadership. Potential leaders do not surface because they are not being given due recognition by mainstream media. Their capabilities and accomplishments remain unheralded and they remain largely unknown. Meanwhile, popular celebrities and moneyed politician are afforded with a lot of positive media exposure and are not subjected to hard scrutiny, thus further blurring the
difference between real and fake leaders. These further discourage real leaders who will never seek personal recognition.
The above project also provides Lead Philippines the media experience which could help it implement other projects as follows:
2. Produce a series of advertisements to be released in the tri-media as well as in newer media such as in the internet, to rouse people into positive and nationalistic action
3. Publish a newspaper to chronicle the country’s search for new leaders
4. Produce a pop and rock concert and produce a corresponding music CD which main theme is nationalism and call to action.
5. Produce a song-writing competition with nationalism as theme and televise a finals event featuring the songs that would touch the heart of the people and stir them to positive action
6. Produce a multi-artist recording of a song with nationalistic theme (similar to what is done in "Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo" recorded right after the 1986 People Power revolution.
7. Produce and popularize a televised search for national leaders, much like the American or Philippines Idol, but for leaders rather than singers, wherein the people can participate via SMS.
8. Produce and popularize a series of televised/radio debates and leadership forums in universities and other venues nationwide.

Blood in our Hands
Our mother is suffering.
She is dying.
She is tortured and raped
By hands who are without guilt.
Burnt and wounded,
There is no end in sight.
Her anguish can be heard,
But no one listens.
Her pain seethes through the heart,
But which hadn't moved a soul.
Our country is our mother.
She gave us life.
She is the air we breathe,
Our reason for being.
Her bosom is our rest.
Worthy sons and daughters
Have come and gone.
Left are vultures
Pounding on her flesh.
She suffered once the torture of a despot.
Mercifully resurrected by the death of a hero.
The power of the people has triumphed.
It not only can but it should, again.
Twice the power was seen
And twice it prevailed.
Yet our country is still down on its knees.
We are perceived to be one of the most corrupt in Asia.
Our people feel hungrier than most of the world.
Many live in desperate conditions,
Yet they remain unseen,
Under the bridge,
Below plain sight.
People die in hospitals,
Poverty is their only disease.
Babies cry for help.
Yet vultures pounces on.
It's politics as usual.
But the most important question is,
The one that would haunt us the rest of our lives...
The question we must ask ourselves is...
Where are we in all of this?
“All that is necessary for evil to triumph
is that good men do nothing.” -Edmund Burke
By doing nothing,
We not only have not done anything.
We allow injustice to prevail,
Inequities to happen.
Not only is it our responsibility
but our moral duty to God and country
To fight against tyranny,
The tyranny of poverty.
If we do nothing,
We are unredeemed.
We have blood in our hands.
But everything is not lost.
We have what it takes.
We have triumphed in the past,
Not once, but twice.
We can do it again, albeit differently.
We can do something.
The possibilities are endless.
Doing nothing is not an option.
Busyness is no excuse.
Let us do what we can.
Read. Learn. Listen.
Get involved.
Talk. Shout. Demand.
Choose. Move. Change.
Join. Unite.
Follow.
Lead.
